I’ll give a piece of business advice I’ve seen many times over the years. DO NOT go 50/50. You end up with a situation where no one can break a tie and things can just deadlock. Maybe through true belief, maybe through spite.

Make sure someone has at least a tiny bit more power.

I've made that mistake with a past venture and definitely agree it's a mistake to go 50/50. In the case of someone joining at a later stage, that wouldn't be on the table as an option.

I've got a very well-defined vision for the company and it's important to me to have the final say on all strategic decisions even as I'm looking for someone who can bring a different perspective to those decisions.
