I'm in high school in the USA and am on multiple interscholastic sports teams, and am also interested in transportation. I have yet to see a single CNG school bus

Likely the CNG buses are purchased by wealthy districts and the less well off districts purchase the used diesel buses at a discount.

For city buses. Schools are mostly diesel from what I've seen. You need special infrastructure to fill CNG, which limits trips.
