Though this robot looks pretty clunky, the idea of riding a legged vehicle is interesting. With a much better implementation I could see this being really useful and fun. For example, going hiking on the back of a robot. Seems like it could become the ideal vehicle for offroad. Might be useful for people with reduced mobility also, letting them go many places a wheelchair or walker can not.
Being able to drive on wheels while "kneeling", was really interesting. Could see it being useful for robots to choose mode best suited to current terrain. Wheels for roads, feet for climbing.
Does this count as a Transformer?
Haha, just before your last sentence I had to think of the Autobots!
Does anyone know what the beam perpendicular to the body and the two small white boxes hanging off the ends of it are for? Maybe a safety feature to prevent rolling to the side in case it loses balance?
Maybe just for when it's on wheels? As it's gonna be faster and more unstable in that mode
...with loud happy techno music, dancing disco lights, and a bunch of press people looking at the woman riding that thing with their mouths agape, probably thinking to themselves: "W.T.F.?"
Makes me think we'll see all kinds of weirder and weirder robots around us in the not too distant future.
Reminds me of those quarter machines in front of grocery stores. Moves about as fast too.
The kinematics are just as bad as they have always been. It's 2022, are all neural or at least advanced inverse kinematics projects (except boston dynamics) classified?
I was expecting something more moutain-ish, more goat-ish. This is no mountain goat. Not at all. Disappointing.
The robot looks like a mountain goat, but yes, there's no mountain here, so I removed "mountain" from the title to avoid confusion.
But they don't BEHAVE like a mountain goat. No sir, they don't! LOL
