I mean you can't blame them for prioritizing in a manor that brings the most shareholder value. Also you can remove the FSD option right before delivery, so it is a moot argument. Either way your not getting a car any time soon.

Instead of full self driving they should call it limited self driving. The acronym change would also indicate what kind of drugs inspired them to call the current version full self driving.

Are we actually sure it's not "future"? As in "maybe in future you can have this and, if you're very lucky, before you sell that car".

What a dick move and also looks like they are desperate for money. If there was hardware differences involved I could accept it but this is pure software.

Also isn't FSD available at a later time for a monthly fee? So they are so desperate for this upfront 12k their markup in the people who purchase it later isn't enough.

Or they have such little confidence in FSD that people who get it at a later time will cancel the next month.

Do you also take issue with the higher-paying first-class and economy-plus airline passengers boarding first?

It's logical for companies to prioritize higher paying customers.

I do actually take issue with it, at least a little. The other day I boarded a plane and wondered why they wouldn't let the people in the back board first, since it would allow people to saturate the available seating and carry-on faster, while also preventing the priority customers from being rushed/crowded at the front of the plane. Furthermore, it gives higher-paying travellers a larger window to board, since they could arrive as late as they like without worrying about getting on at a bad time.

People in the Tesla community are now calling FSD Fairytale Self Driving -- mainly on account of it being promised to provide 'robotaxi' service since 2019. Clearly, the problem of characterizing the road environment, projecting future paths, and selecting a suitable path ahead is a much more difficult problem than initially thought.

FSD beta 10.10.2 is very impressive. Have you been in a car that has the beta software installed?

They are getting pretty close to robotaxis 90% of environments. The software feels like it could be used as a robotaxi in rural environments right now.

It’s good they are able to target those demographics a few years later then advertised that will have a large uptake in participation.

I dont get it, so the timeline was wrong. Are you a software developer. Have you never missed your estimates?

Estimating software is very hard. Now imagine you're a publicly traded company, the whole world is watching you, and short sellers are piling on. You are trying to fix model 3 supply chain problems etc and at the same time designing rockets that land themselves.

I think they deserve a pass on the estimates. Tesla will get to L4 first

Funny thing: In the middle of January I ordered a Model 3, and the expected delivery was May/June. I really wanted it for around June, and not before, and I was told that it'd be fine, and not to worry because it wasn't going to be delivered earlier anyways.

This Monday they assigned a VIN, and called me to let me know that if I wanted there was a car waiting for me, and I could pick it up the next day. I had to refuse as it wasn't possible for me at the moment, and asked them for a later delivery date.

* I ordered the white Tesla Model 3 with white interior, and nothing else.

On the other extreme, I ordered a Model Y in Summer 2019; it took them more than 2 years to tell me they have no intention of ever making it (apparently they scrapped plans to build RWD Model Ys in early 2020 and neglected to notify me for 20ish months), plus another few weeks to refund the deposit back to my credit card.
