NASA ends a pilot program for displaying pronouns

Weird. I do it all the time, without any grief. I just tack (he/him) onto my Zoom call name. That's what most people would guess for me, but it's not always obvious, and it saves the embarrassment of somebody having to correct me if I guess wrong.

It's certainly not like "expressing public support for sports teams". It's useful information: you're gonna reference people with pronouns.

I don't know exactly what feature they were turning on and off. Most programs let you type whatever name you want, and adding your pronouns to it is trivial. (It helps that they're usually short and don't take up a lot of real estate.)

Submission statement: the article collects all the best info on the situation and offers a little context, but the on-page title is a little linkbaity. I went with a shortening of the title tag content that conveys the only 100% certain thing. This is in line with my understanding of the guideline on submission titles.
