It's pretty old, and there are better/faster alternatives these days, such as ugrep.

What makes ugrep better for your use cases?

Livegrep https://github.com/livegrep/livegrep is my weapon of choice these days.

I always wonder why I want to run something I can accomplish within an IDE through another tool.

What's the advantage against running find in files from my editor?

If it's just searching through a single project inside an IDE, I agree with you.

But I have a Livegrep instance setup to index all 1000 repos into a single search space and it's still nigh instantaneous.

I looked at your comment history and I see you consistently make a single comment a year each year.

So, I am truly and genuinely honored that you have picked my post as your one single comment of 2022. Thank you :-)

The year is far from over

I know, they're really going all in, right? Spending their one comment of the year so early in it, on me. I'm doubly honored, and more so because the year is so early.

They made two comments in 2018, and at least 4 in 2017.

:) Heh, I know! So tiny, right? I am so deeply honored to be part of such a tiny number of comments! :-)
