I wonder if the max 128GB graphics memory opens up some applications that would not have been viable before?

Not really. Thanks to the GPU interconnect NVLINK we have system 320GB. https://www.deltacomputer.com/nvidia-dgx-a100-320gb-3ys-edu....

There are even some with 640GB. This is at a different price point though.

Not on a single GPU though and it’s 40x the cost!

Rewriting a CUDA application to use NVLINK is a lot easier then rewriting it for Apples GPU.

640GB should be enough for anyone.

Bill said it 40 years ago and here we are with 2 orders of prefix more of memory. I wonder if in next 40 years we'll get to 640 peta bytes

Finally, enough RAM for Microsoft Teams!

Perhaps until VR becomes more main stream and gets higher frame rates, resolutions etc.

Rendering in VR takes a lot of memory at higher resolutions.

Yep, finally Electron apps will run smoothly on consumer hardware.

Wishful thinking. Giving Electron apps more RAM is like giving a toddler with crayons more walls to scribble on.
