Not sure how much the Guardian is in a position to make objective statements on this topic, being in the Western bubble as well and regurgitating the Western propaganda.
The fact that the European Union has completely censored RT is something which most people either do not know or are simply nonchalantly ignoring.
So yes, one may ask what Russians are being told or not being told on this subject, but equally the same question applies to the Western hemisphere.
The issue here is, it's not even about the people. It's about a conflict of interest between major powers in the world, who are unable to co-operate but rather escalate their disputes on political or even warfare levels.
The whole thing goes back to the early 2010s and that only recently. The issue itself goes back far longer.
