Ask HN: Can residents impact gas consumption in Europe

Basically put if we all wore outdoor clothes inside and turned off our gas heating could north sea gas sustain us for a few months?

I realise this is not possible everywhere but what percentage would it take. Ive googled some numbers but not confident i know enough to interpret them correctly.

Incase its not obvious i am wondering if we can do something collectively to stop buying russian gas. Even for a month.
