It feels a bit ironic to be going through the third, or arguably fourth round of risk of nuclear war in my lifetime. I was a 1961 child, the live-use of A-Bombs was 15 years old, with Aldermaston marches and ban-the-bomb a 4-5 year old campaign at my birth, we had the cuban missile crisis before I was talking, then we had sufficient concern in the 70s they re-issued the guidance to home-made bomb shelters, then we had star-wars and the follow on of the pre-SALT pre-START talks, then we had the non- nonproliferation outcomes of India, Pakistan, South Africa, Israel, North Korea, now we have Russia moving weapons off cold-standby posture and Belarus re-enabling the toggle to be nuclear-capable by desire...
Ironic because it has in so many other ways been a blissfully peaceful 60 years for most developed economy citizens.
