The Russian people will soon be living in poverty. Their country will not function the same way shortly. The Russian Chess community opposes the war and Russia will no longer be competing in Chess anymore. Not to mention how many other sports? The people will want to know why the entire world has rejected them. Why countries which are typically neutral have stood against them.

"something something nazis" is not going to be enough. However, will the Russian people rise up to overthrow their government? No I doubt it. It would be ideal, but I predict the Russian people are weaker than say Tunisia, Egypt, Syria, Yemen. They fear that trying to overthrow putin will plunge them into civil war or worse, just lose.
