The tablet class snapdragon chips (7c, 8c) have seen pretty proactive upstreaming. Im not sure but I think maybe Chromebook insists on a mainline or lightly patched kernel?? And that's definitely a market Qualcomm targets with these chips.

But it might run Linux. I could take the hit in performance if Linux run perfectly (including hibernate, etc).

And yet my 2.9 kg Dell Precision 7540 lasts 2 - 3 hours of office work. Didn't 3 kg laptops from 20 years back last about the same time? I don't think they lasted less than a hour. Or were they much heavier?
