Biden needs scientists with policy chops

I don't think Nature should be publishing political pieces or even recommending policy decisions.

I don't think anyone (let alone Nature, which has its own incentives) should be recommending scientists get into politics, especially until we resolve the credentialism and replication crises that hurt the credibility of the scientific establishment.
