On the other hand, this account does sound horrifying for the monkeys. If it's possible to have the research without this suffering, we should aim for that. If you're experiments brings the Silver Spring Monkey case [0] to mind, then maybe we need to rethink some things.

Let's say the inadequate animal care is true, and it gets fixed as it should, I don't know what can be done about the invasive experimental head implants. That's the whole purpose of the research.
