EA chickens, abandons Sims update for Russia because it has lesbian wedding ad?

Relevant backstory: there seems to be no backstory whatsoever, and this is why absolutely everyone is puzzled. Sims games have had same-sex marriage for quite some time, not to mention millions of mods that add a lot more alternative dimensions to that. The game is rated as adult-only. None of the usual suspects (politicians, so-called independent parental organizations, etc.) had Sims on their radars. This seems to be a reaction to something that hasn't happened at all.

I suppose that either some local manager is really focused on corporate and government ass-licking. or that someone stateside has only read about Russia on Wikipedia and in the news, and really believes that so-called gay propaganda laws have any real importance here, and require actual compliance.

But hey, we have a great example of saccharine corporate non-informational press release that makes no sense and tells you nothing.

Why do Russians hate LBGQT things? I really don't understand their attitude.
