Ottawa Police announce digital surveillance of Freedom Convoy

Interesting the level of response this set of peaceful protest actions has garnered, when compared to previous “fiery but mostly peaceful” protests.

They’re white, they’re supported by right-wing money and the provincial leaders don’t really want to do anything against them (as they’re conservatives pandering to their base). The protest is misguided in Ottawa as most covid restrictions and mandates are set at the city and provincial level. Our federal government controls planes/trains, returning to Canada and possible/probably the federal workforce.

But this supposedly started due to being unable to enter the us, which is controlled by the us government. Not a damned thing Canada can do to change that. Basically, it’s revealed itself as our 1/6 moment - the right could not win an election so they’re resorting to alternate methods. And showing various us or European flags during the protest isn’t helping garner support.

I’ll stick with public health over mob rule. I’m disappointed when right wing politicians totally change their commentary based on who is protesting. Not surprised, just disappointed. The only freedom they’re fighting for is their own and they don’t care who or what turns into collateral damage.
