Paul Graham on NFTs

NFTs can be used for so many different things that you're inviting history to make a fool of you if you dismiss them. Even if I were sure that most current uses of NFTs were bogus, I'd never dare to say that all possible uses were.
You can say that about anything, it begs the question of what to prioritize. There are numerous use cases for segways. Virtually none of them beat just regular walking.
Can you really say the same about the metaverse or bubble wrap toys and fidget spinners?
Yes. One of those uses is domain names on the blockchain, which that is the only valid use-case for NFTs, just like ENS.
> Even if I were sure that most current uses of NFTs were bogus, I'd never dare to say that all possible uses were.
The most important word in this sentence is 'current'. Currently, 90% of these NFTs projects are useless JPEGs, but 10% of these NFT projects have a use-case and ENS is probably part of that 10%.
Doesn't matter, can we condemn all current uses and be done with them?
Then we can applaud those future legit uses once they arrive...
I would love to see more useful applications, but so far it has been sparse.
