How to make sure you're not installing spyware to your computer via USB drivers?

So I got this Huion graphics drawing tablet, and due to the recent controversy regarding Wacom and them spying on the user, I started thinking, how would one go about making sure that a USB-device they plug into their computer isn't spying on them? Are there any analysis tools for drivers?

If your device is supported, you can use the open source drivers. I know a lot of developers use Wacom and similar tablets without installing any proprietary drivers.

not an expert, but maybe try analyzing the network? with stuff like wireshark? if the driver is sending data there may be a problem
