For example the Union Flag is normally 1:2, while the Stars and Stripes is 1:1.9

Ha! I'm from there and it's always interesting to see the flag get butchered in a variety of ways across the internet and in real life. The procedure for drawing the flag is outlined in the constitution and there's a popular numberphile video on it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2Gne3UHKHs).

Last I checked, there's some ambiguity in how to draw the moon in the upper triangle. It's supposed to have eight points with no prescription on how they connect to the crescent below. (Step 18 in this tutorial: https://www.settinger.net/experiments/nepal-flag/). This seems to be the most popular version: https://clipground.com/images/nepali-flag-png-4.png.
