Their CEO is a tyrant, so this is no surprise.

That seems to be the norm in the gulf kingdoms, everything is run by some despicable royal nephew or much less often, a niece.

The hours in the article seem doctored upwards!

You are aware that flights can take longer due to weather, delays with landing, and other events that can cause a flight to last longer than the scheduled duration?

Also, a "turnaround flight" is an industry term meaning that the crew (pilots and attendants) are assigned for the outbound and return flights, and remain on the aircraft. So the 10 hour one way flight (assuming the pilot meant Doha to Tokyo) means at least 20 hours of flight time, plus the time spent in the plane at the origin and destination airports.

Pilot’s flight time is calculated from when they sign-in, so delays and time spent on the tarmac (and not in the air) all contribute to the total “flight time”.

Oh great. It is not like fatigue has actually been an actual cause of actual crashes or anything. Cough ** Colgan Air Flight 3407 *cough* American International Airways Flight 808**
