Excel VBA

Hi,

I want to learn VBA for Excel and I have a bunch of naive questions about it:

-what are the sort of very powerful things you can do with it, other then the obvious automating parsing and analyzing data

-is it even possible to make an "app" (macro) that you could sell ? is this something that is standard for people who use a lot of excel
