Like more than one candidate on a ballot? New initiative allows multiple votes

I think Approval Voting is a big improvement over plurality voting, but I definitely think there can be cases where voters have to worry about whether they "approve" of a candidate enough to potentially help them win.
For example, imagine a candidate who had 60% of the first-preference vote, but half of those voters weren't aware of that lead, so they hedged their bets by voting for another candidate who they really didn't like, but who was preferable to another (more strongly disliked) candidate who had 40% of the first-preference votes.
If 35 of the 40% also grudgingly approved the "compromise" candidate, then the supporters of the first candidate (who would have won a solid majority) would be giving an apparent landslide of 65% of the vote to that barely acceptable candidate, even though, if they had been more optimistic, they could have had the candidate they wanted.
