EDIT: According to one of the commenters xattr is now a binary instead of a Python script, so that's probably the real reason why they got rid of 2.7 now!
But xattr is opensource, Apple didnt want to invest some engineering time and effort to upgrade those packages?
There must have been breakage in some code when ran w Python 3. Apple is usually the quickest to deprecate things…
