This comment stems from the Canadian trucker convoy - Freedom Convoy 2022, aptly named BearHug - and the mainstream narrative and discussion I’m seeing online in regards to it - regardless of the numbers, whether it is high or low, whether there is a magnitude or two or not of Canadians quietly protesting but not traveling to Ottawa, this is a question of freedom and whether we’re okay with what’s going on - which includes suppression of conversation, of scientific method, in an attempt to reach the truth; all of which has to do with system design which I believe the HN community cares about. All 11 official, and unofficial, convoy routes will merge and arrive in Ottawa in roughly 24 hours from now.
I know there are people who have lost people close to them due to COVID. Believe it or not I know people who’s healthy family members have died soon after the vaccines, and I have other random close contact stories from people of adverse events: one woman, an Air Canada staff who was assisting me in a wheelchair to my gate - just started sharing with me without us talking about COVID or the pandemic at all, she seemed desperate and needing to share her and her son's pain/story with someone: her ~25 year old son still had severe myocarditis still even after 2 months from the vaccine. He’s not allowed to work for at least 1 year due to any activity could cause him to die, the doctors tell her that's very rare - yet the actual research and data shows young boys/men have rate of ~1:2000 for just myocarditis. What are the odds of a random woman telling me of her son’s condition, perhaps ~1:2000? What's the short-term and long-term cost on that family (and I don't just mean monetarily - that mother seemed very on edge, bursting enough to tell a total stranger a very personal story of suffering)? And I didn't bring this up at the time because there'd be no value, I didn't tell her that there's something like a 25% death rate within 5 years after myocarditis, so will her young son even be alive still in 5 years? I doubt their doctors told them that either, as in the media myocarditis is played off as mild which is insane that potential lifelong cardiac problem for young boys is somehow mild; the integrity of our language use has been appalling during this pandemic as well. I'm not being dramatic either, this is reality - but mainstream media isn't talking about it, so people aren't thinking about it much if at all, definitely not thoroughly; in part because people have been trained by people like Trudeau who's been hate mongering, so then if you question anything about the pandemic you're pejoratively called an "anti-vaxxer;" how useful is that in discourse, in developing a more educated, thoughtful population?
Most of our deaths in Canada were from long-term care homes, in 2018 (I believe it was but I don't remember the year now, might have been 2008), the government in power then decided to eliminate random spot checks to make sure the homes were being operated properly: death rate in for-profit long-term care homes was higher than the not-for-profit, but still the Federal government knowing they were facing a pandemic didn't initiate protocols to first protest the elderly. Why? Why aren't people furious with the current politicians and the politicians who stopped the policy of random spot checks? If you're told exactly when your room is going to be checked to make sure it's clean, you'll have it pretty clean for right beforehand. If it's random and you'll be punished increasingly with fines, or other, then you'll make sure it's as clean as possible at all times.
We also shouldn't blindly trust "doctors" or the health agencies. I am in fact slowly writing a whole book on the non-stop incompetence of the Ontario/OHIP system and doctors, their lack of protocol, their lack of diagnostics or data-driven decision making; based on my last 15+ years of being first hurt by the system, then abandoned by it, then primarily depending on treatments in the US - using diagnostic tools and treatments not even legal in Canada, and there's zero reason for that - but Canadians don't even know that they're not getting care and treatments that are possible. When you start sharing your story then others open up, and I've heard stories as a bad as someone in Canada being told they had 6 months to live because there was nothing they could do for this person's specific problem. Their wise friend hears the story and thinks that doesn't sound right, contacts a US hospital, and they say it's no problem - they can do surgery - and in a few weeks the guy's in the US getting surgery done. That's just one of countless experiences I've heard from people, and we don't hear about them because we don't have enough conversation - we don't build community - and news organizations/TV channels want to maximize for as many eyeballs as possible for higher advertising revenue, so these stories barely make it into the mainstream.

How much of this suffering/death is from COVID, and how much is from the policies - arguably many of which have been unnecessary and excessive - which lead to heavy restrictions on freedoms, some arguably reasonable, others not so much? If we can't even have that conversation, thoroughly and in the mainstream, then we're completely lost. But please, downvote me to show you're happily, blindly toeing the line, that you're doing your part by suppressing the "anti-science" - when in fact discussion is critical the scientific process, to finding the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth - so help you God. Making a blanket statement of "I trust doctors and science:" there are expert doctors and researchers who give a different, valid narrative, who have been actively suppressed during this whole pandemic - who are highly credentialed scientists, they are very logical, their logic is congruent, and they are very articulate/eloquent with their speech - and they cite data and well-done research - contrary to the hit pieces and smear campaigns out there.
If you trust science then you'd believe in the scientific method, which includes having full-open conversation. There were powerful preventative-proactive measures that we knew about 1.5+ years ago that could have been mass deployed, why didn't mass testing start 1.5+ years ago, etc? And more concerning yet is why hasn't the general population been educated on these things? Why isn’t all of society shocked at Fauci’s statement of “I am/represent science” - is it simply because the majority are poorly developed, have underdeveloped critical thinking and such? Are people just too stressed, unhealthy, too busy with working too much to then have energy or attention for more than copium entertainment (whether it’s entertainment they call news that’s masquerading as news vs. actual entertainment)?
One reason I believe is that Google's search results are also captured, and manipulated towards the mainstream narrative, and the general population doesn't understand these mechanisms. They think that when they do a Google search they're getting "the best" results and information (even though it's in a bubble for their own political tilt, it's captured both ways) - and then they feel like they've done their due diligence, and they've then been told/taught what the narrative response is to whatever it is they're looking up. Example: If you search for "vitamin D covid" you'll get a bunch of articles that claim that vitamin D’s benefit in viruses/COVID is debunked, you won't however find the long-form conversation between Bret Weinstein and two other researchers who focused on vitamin D and COVID/virus-related studies; my even mentioning his name will prompt many people manipulated by the effort to suppress/smear him, but I've not yet heard a single thing he's actually said that's incorrect; people try to change context often for what he says, as an evolutionary biologist he thinks through possibilities - but people will remove his "if then" statement to try to then claim he said "this is true!" when he really just said "if X is true then Y is likely true"; whether his suppression is due to purposeful malice or incompetence, the end result is the same of scientific method being suppressed and the discussion not reaching mainstream/general population.
Here's a 17 minute clip of the discussion on vitamin D research (with COVID outcomes) with Bret Weinstein, Gruff Davies, and Linda Benskin - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xfzsEc0CTo - where they not only outline the existing studies, but also debunk the poorly done one - pointing out the shenanigans [or incompetence, but if you find only 1 poorly done one out of 4 studies available - that's far less likely incompetence to me, especially as you'd want to pull from multiple studies to average them out anyway if you were to make the best informed decision] that the US health agencies only referenced the poorly done study, meanwhile ignoring the 3 other studies they talk about that were widely known about at the time; full 2-hour long discussion here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LFkWiNP1wQ or on Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/episode/4BXJgl3LYVez6CrDTbkwOl?si=4... - who thank God or Goodness isn't suppressing the scientific method, the process of having open and free flowing discussion. Now are these researcher 100% correct? I don’t know, but where’s the apparatus that organizes all of this - instead of suppressing them - so that we pit expert against expert in real-time to argue their very specific points, so we can hear in real-time flaws in arguments or misinterpretations presented that may be exposed by the conversation? I know, from experience, people will start replying with the citations/articles of information countering anything/everything I’ve said here - but then where’s the apparatus that contains all of this information in a framework that’s easily navigable, so then I can see who of my trusted sources - people I believe to be competent and trustworthy and thorough with their methods - to see who else has already reviewed the link given, so then I can read what the responses are by experts or competent peers (who may not even be in that specific field but can expertly analyze research methedogoloy)? Did Bret Weinstein or his partner Heather, or Pierre Kory, or Robert Malone, or Peter McCullough, or other already give a thorough response - or are we all to endlessly be bombarded by quick pieces of information we all can copy/paste from from our respective bubbles, getting exhausted even thinking about keeping up with the potential onslaught of reactions from people - whether they’re ideological in nature or well-intentioned? I know everyone is doing their best, but we can’t find the truth, we can sort through and engage inefficiently like how we currently do.

Canadians: Check out the FreeNorthDeclaration.ca - sign it if you care if laws are being broken and due process isn't being followed in Canada; 500+ Canadian lawyers have signed it so far, in hopes to educate Canadians of these abuses.
Most Canadians don't realize that parliament was closed for most of the pandemic so there's been basically no public debate, no opposition, to the actions of the Trudeau government - nor that of our health agencies; $400+ billion was arguably poorly spent. Every Canadian should watch this video but I'm afraid there's so much blind hate and anger for unvaccinated people, perpetuated regularly by Trudeau (hate crimes/crimes against humanity IMHO, people may disagree but we have judges and a judiciary process for a reason - laypeople are laypeople and not experts in legal domains, etc), that most people on Canadian subreddits either heavily downvote what I say or even ban me - just for sharing above what I have.
Everyone: Check out the Great Barrington Declaration - gbdeclaration.org - a multi-disciplinary group of experts from the US, who among other things point to a growing number of legitimate studies that suggest you're more likely to catch COVID after you've been vaccinated (not immediately of course, that's not what they're saying, but once the waning immunity starts you're more likely to catch COVID afterward than if you didn't get vaccinated; and in one sense that's easy to understand, as the vaccine specifically targeted the spike protein of the "first" variant, the original virus, but it's evolved significantly multiple times now - now with Omicron; so it seems that by vaccinating it seems we've somehow reduced the immune system from responding as well to future infection; there is also growing body of data that shows there's an uptick in other viruses after being vaccinated, and an uptick in certain cancers or conditions caused by viruses, arguably the mRNA vaccine is brute force telling the immune system where to direct its resources - and so then if the immune system is managing and keeping other viruses at bay, it no longer can - I could cite this too but I'm getting tired and don't have it readily available so I'd have to search again.
And how about this story of Maddie De Garay, which I believe calls into question the integrity of all of the vaccine clinical trials, just watch it - roughly 10 minutes of testimony for how they were treated during and after the Pfizer vaccine trial for 12-15 year olds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2GKPYzL_JQ. The excuses I’ve seen online to just to discredit or discount Maddie and her mother are disgusting and unconscionable IMHO, and shows people don't actually care about the scientific process, they don't truly care for integrity nor for the whole truth. People have dismissed what happened to Maddie as automatically not being due to the vaccine, but that’s not how clinical trials work if they have integrity - you include all events that occur, and not minimize what happens to someone - nor suppress results by defining a narrow scope of what you’re actually allowed to report on, as Maddie’s mother testifies as part of the application provided for reporting symptoms/potential adverse events - stating that there was no free-form way to include details. Thus far, as far as I know but since their testimony in the video linked above, no one from Pfizer, the clinical trial, nor any US government health agency (or otherwise) has been in contact with Maddie and her mother. If that doesn’t freeze you, put you in a state of shock, then wake up, please.
We have an intellectual-ideological crisis in Canada, I imagine around most of the world, and our mainstream media has been captured too - they are toeing the line and not doing actual investigative journalism. Why? Are they all so arrogant that they know best or are they afraid of going counter-narrative, of the potential repercussions, to go against the coercion (which by law in Canada is considered abuse, and informed consent isn't possible for anything under a state of coercion; advertising works, companies spend money on it because messaging influences/manipulates people even if they don't realize it)?
This comment took time to write and it most likely will get downvoted by ideologues (I originally wrote first draft for Reddit, I expect somewhat better behaviour from HN but it’s hit or miss whether you gain enough attention from critical thinkers vs. reactive people who will quickly downvote because they’re triggered by a name or anything counter-mainstream narrative) who want to maintain the mainstream narrative, who will be reactive to one or more things I say, and then they're empowered to lazily click a downvote button for a hit of dopamine - to get rewarded and settle their emotional response by reacting - instead of diving into what I'm saying, watching the video links I provided in full - and with a clear, unbiased state of curiosity to then dive deeper if they feel the need. I can understand and appreciate the cognitive dissonance people will face when starting to see the whole truth and how that is warped from the mainstream narrative and mass formation psychosis people are in - a phenomenon discovered after studying what happened in Nazi Germany, where a highly educated, thriving society turned into madness - or at least allowed madness to happen under their own watch; there are plenty of videos, articles, books on this.
Remembrance Day - Lest we forget. Most Canadians have forgotten. Coercion towards vaccination, mandates are wrong - regardless of all the other policy failures that could be pointed out; and how there was a 51% increase in suicide attempts by young girls [12-25 year olds] during the first year pandemic, meanwhile luckily we have examples around the world that show a very different story, where they weren't the most locked-down/shutdown place in the world like Ontario has been; https://nbcmontana.com/news/nation-world/cdc-saw-51-increase... + the CDC source: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7024e1.htm
And to finish off I'll quote what Elon Musk tweeted yesterday: "If you scare people enough, they will demand removal of freedom. This is the path to tyranny." - https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1486846468887560201. He's not some dumb capitalist who only cares about money as the hateful mob chant, rallied by people like Bernie Sanders and AOC to hate billionaires [regardless of any nuance differentiation between billionaires; just like Trudeau is hateful against the unvaccinated to train most Canadians to be in two different/divided camps - "us" vs. "them" - psychology 101; for which Trudeau needs to be tried for promoting hate, among other things]. Elon cares deeply about humanity, about suffering, he's a very sensitive individual and why he has been so driven to what he's doing now; yes, he's eccentric at times, he trolls people as a way to vent, and he reacts poorly sometimes too - he's also a growing, evolving human with a lot of responsibility and important work he's doing. I understand everyone is growing in this process which is why we need compassion and forgiveness, but with consequences to appropriate degrees for those who willingly skirted the law. And people are so scared in Canada that they’re accepting Trudeau’s hate speech - pretending to represent Canadians, meanwhile only 20% of Canadians actually voted for him [he got 33% of votes - but not all Canadians vote; Conservatives actually got 34% of votes, and while our electoral system unfairly advantaging the duopoly kept in power by the establishment - a Canadian’s vote often doesn’t actually count, for example, 5% of Canadians voted for the People’s Party of Canada (PPC) but won zero seats in parliament, 5% of Canadians have zero representation or voice in our parliament - in discussing policy and governance].
Tyranny (whether through malice and/or incompetence) is what the truckers and their supporters are protesting against, lest we forget.
