I live in that country house. (Boy I am glad we got the wood stove up and running!)
It didn't stop me from getting Omicron less than 45 days after it was discovered. On the other hand, for me the effects of Omicron were less unpleasant than the Moderna vaccine even if they lasted a little longer.
I was working at home at the time. My wife had it before me, our guess is that she got it from a rider at our horse barn (a socially distant activity.)
My employer has some of the strictest measures against COVID-19 such as vaccine mandates, sending us home in the first phase of the pandemic, required masks, lots of testing, etc. The surrounding community was one of the most successful in containing COVID-19 in the US but on campus we had a even lower test positivity rate than the surrounding community (especially for faculty and staff) up until Omicron. Then this happened

A stockpile of food and meds is a good idea. Unless you plan on hunting the gun is more useful as a suicide method than anything else.
