I'd like to see the USA pull completely out of Germany 100% and move all of those bases, troops, etc into Eastern Europe. They will be warmly greeted and greatly appreciated. I would even go as far as giving Germany a way out of NATO and letting them go it alone.

The fact that we have so many service members stationed in Germany that nobody ever thinks about makes the Afghanistan pull-out look so much more stupid in hindsight.

Germans aren't blowing up American service members. The legitimate government of Germany maintains an invitation to those forces. And there is clear and present strategic American interest to the role those forces serve.

None of those applied to Afghanistan. Doesn't mean the pull-out was correct, just that Germany's situation is too different for comparison.

If there's no immediate danger in Germany and the government is stable, why do they need to be there? Why not send them to Afghanistan where there is a bunch of work to be done?
