I am sorry, but I do not see the point in the article - Qt apps (whose development is unrelated to KDEs, and historically even slightly conflicting) might get ads, but it is not like KDE has stated any intention to do so, right?
This is mere, very wild speculation meant to drive clicks.
More specifically, the Qt Company have announced Qt Digital Advertising, a plugin and associated SSP for facilitating cross-platform ad integration into apps.
How would this not kill KDE? There's all kinds of alternatives that would not have ads. Ads carry malware, too. Why would you subject yourself to an easily-avoidable security risk? I mean, KDE users aren't locked in like Windows users are.
I hope we get cookie banners in every ad as a modal window, too.
