That was a fun read. I liked how you grouped the headings at a high level. It might have helped to have some diagrams, or split each of the paragraphs into sections focusing on some aspect e.g., pid that was shared between the various states -- and then illustrate the differences or transformations to process.
I got a little lost in some of the paragraphs like "Birth" with the sentence regarding `ls`. It was a little run-on.
