i don't see the words "cop", "police officer", or "value" anywhere to be found in this red herring (i've taken my pick).

Let me give you a hint what happens when a state violence monopoly disappears: something else tales their spot.

If you value not having to walk heavily armed, or pay big money to some protection racket, or something worse, then you’re better off having a state police despite them being questionable.

What do you call law enforcement? A rose by any other name, and all that.
