Why would dice be “retired” from a Casino floor?

Which made me wonder... is there a technical reason for retiring dice? Do they somehow become less random/useful?
Or did ceasars just change their dice branding or something?
Also, dice must wear over time, no matter how soft the table.
Players rings, falling off the table, hitting other dice/chips/etc; it all adds up.
Here is a link I found by searching 'dice holes drilled'. It goes into more detail about the 'why' of retirement than I know about.(https://www.goodgamblingsites.com/articles/why-do-casinos-dr...)
