The tragedy of climate change science

No, it’s society-politics contract that is broken and as science is being hijacked by politics it increasingly appears science-society contract is also broken. Individuals largely had respects on science and scientists in general - Americans still revere the moonshot science and technology achievements like moon landing.
Problem is there is group of people largely facilitated and funded by the political donor class that has hijacked science for changing socio-political discourse in its favour. And that has started this slippery slope which has led to biggest decline in trust and respect to scientific leadership and by proxy to science.
A common way to fool people is how the media for example conflates science with policy decisions. When scientists talk about climate change, many automatically assume it has to do with the policy choice such as less car or fossil fuel without any implication such as changing consumer habits or offloading carbon footprints to third world producing economies.
If you want to see how political donor class has broken the science-society contract just look at the pandemic response. CDC still hasn’t walked back fully from its initial claim of the virus being “non-airborne”, or how the hospitalization count is totally off because many are hospitalized with covid not because of covid as Dr Fauci only recently acknowledged.[1]
Ultimately, science is being used as a tool for political donor class to push its agenda and society is better off distancing from that because if there is anything last 20 years of policies have shown, the donor class is all in it for themselves.

Climate scientists broke the contract when they chose to cross the bridge from science to activism. This gives zero credibility.
