What a load of garbage. There is a legitimate security reason to differentiate between standard SMS messages and iMessages. I for one like knowing whether the person Im texting is using Android(meaning all my texts are intercepted by the carrier and/or police), or if theyre using an iPhone(meaning all my texts are securely encrypted).

Google seems to place a greater importance on teenager's feelings than communication security.

Uhhhh.... You realize your iMessages when sync'd to iCloud (default) are key escrowed, and therefore tapped by Apple, right?

CALEA doesn't go away just because you don't own wires.

CALEA goes away because it doesn't apply to Apple. Apple isn't a phone or broadband company.

I hate the green background because it's hard to see grey text on a lime green background. Why do designers keep doing this stuff? I see light grey text on white backgrounds all the time, as if it's sophisticated or something. Text you can't read isn't sophisticated!

Yep - it's the kind of situation where if you had ten teams designing a product like this, probably nine of them would realize that the colourscheme could be improved, isn't it?
