I tried to take it for a spin using `make LLVM=1 -j$(nproc)`, but, it seems it only compiles for GCC. Has anyone compiled it using `LLVM=1` ?

It looks like there's some discussion on the patch series which suggest various diffs that need to be applied in order to compile with LLVM=1 [0].
