You would have to do the math for your own particular situation.
Donating money and hoping someone else will fix the problem will not change things.
You can not own a car, not fly, not use an air conditioner, don’t eat meat, etc., but as one person out of billions your individual efforts are negligible. You can support politicians who promise to implement large-scale change but that process is slow and corrupt.
Completely agree, and I don't think it will ever happen. I can't imagine Americans ditching their monster trucks and SUVs, turning off their AC, not using a clothes dryer, not paving the world with concrete, and so on.
And developing economies are going to all eventually want the same luxuries we enjoy, making the problem that much worse. I could be wrong, but I don't see humanity solving this. We're too self-centered and greedy as a species to do things for the greater good. As was well-said in "The Matrix", we are best compared to a virus, taking over and consuming everything.
