These are an interesting idea, in Chicago we have something similar on 90/94 there are more lanes on the different highway directions depending on the time of day. It’s actually really smart for increasing utilization.
We have one in the Twin Cities too on 394, a pair of lanes that depending on the time goes one way in the morning, the other in the evening.
