Why Sneering Critics Dislike Netflix’s ‘Don’t Look Up,’ but Scientists Love It

> You must under no account employ “bombastic, shake-you-by-the-shoulders direction” (Simran Hans, The Observer).

> Secondly, critics appear to be worried that the film is making fun of people—and that perhaps they might be among the targets.

The film absolutely does make fun of them. The news anchors make the same arguments about smiles being more important than substance. It would be hilarious if it were less real.

I enjoyed the film but I think they could have dropped like 20 minutes of content. At some point it felt a bit dragged out - "Yes I get the point you're making, now show me the impact!"

So essentially, it’s a poorly made movie by the standards of moviedom (that makes fun of moviedom types on top of it all) but the content, message, and vibes are cutting and relatable from the view of climate scientists.
