How Much Does Universal Pay J.K. Rowling for the Harry Potter Theme Park Rights?

A lot of % of the takings deals of yore were trashed by book-keeping. Alec Guinness did well on star wars but a lot of other people signed for "..of the profits after other costs met" deals which mechanistically never deliver because tax avoiding means no visible profits. Rowling will either have secured a huge up front payment or an income stream from invested money, or a % of takings as a licencing cost before profits. Which is btw how the irish-dutch sandwich worked to export Google profits (and other companies) away from the actual domicile of the revenue. Use of the Google icon by the subsidiary in the economy A is licenced from Google in economy B as a value, and absorbs almost all of the profit in economy A. Surprise! Economy B doesn't charge tax on this kind of foreign income (or charges less)
The fixed income with CPI thing is a good indication Rowling is getting guaranteed returns on investment at large, and has scaled it to match CPI because market average returns will scale to CPI. This is a common way people like footballers are paid: the $15m doorbuster "price" is never paid. Instead the profits of investment equivalent to $15m are paid out over a period of time, from an investment shell. Probably the universal studio investment banking system managed the risk here, weighing up an ETF or investment in universals own product.
The royalty from goods/merch/drinks branding is audited. It follows the sales tax obligations. Universal is in seventeen kinds of hell with the government if it does not levy sales taxes, so this is a trustable income stream.
2021 reports her net worth as £820 million. Market returns on average are 7% long-term, probably better for her because money begats money. The books still sell, and she has diversified income.
Universal studio revenue on theme parks was $7b. HP will only be a small part of that, and her take as licence only a small take on that but it's going to be millions no matter what. Probably not a small part of her income apart from diversified investment. For all I know there is some bizarre contra here where paying Rowling licence fees which go to a corporate shell which Universal invests or Co owns with Rowling may advantage both of them. She is still domiciled in the UK afaik. Not sure how US UK corporate tax would work here.
Not a bookkeeper, lawyer or IPR expert, usual pinch of salt added.
