I feel the same way about Los Angeles. What once was a funky chill city, has rapidly turned into a massive homeless encampment. When watching recent shows based in LA I've never seen a tent on the sidewalk. So you have a fantasy which gets broadcasted.
You can either complain or leave.
Since I've left LA every aspect of my life has been outrageously great. Had a girlfriend within a month , cut my living expenses by a 1/3rd. I haven't owned a car in years !
I think people get too attached to defending the idea of their hometown. I know the LA I loved is long gone.
But life moves on, I had to estrange myself from much of my family to move, but frankly a life in LA isn't much of a life.
I do enjoy reading these articles, no matter how liberal you are you get sick of homeless people commiting various crimes without consequences. You get sick of paying 10% in state income tax for practically nothing.
