Re: negotiating. You negotiate your comp once, it takes 1 hour maybe. Compare that to the effort it takes to maintain a fragile career based on lies.

If you can negotiate +80% on your comp every time, then, sure, that pays off comparatively. But, I doubt you can. Furthermore, you only have a few chances to do so throughout a career, and your first few attempts will likely be bad.
