But I would think that it would be an imperceptible statistical effect, given the relative amounts of energy (not the absolute amount, which is of course huge).
Is it possibly much larger than I think? Sure, absolutely. "Trust the science." But I can't trust anything based on intuition about particular events and unbiased memories of decades past.
The focus on individual events that feel wrong is unsettling to me. It used to be that people would say "climate change is real, the science is settled, deniers are tools of the fossil fuel industry" and other people would say "no, it's a religion and a scam designed to seize political power". Can't it be both a floor wax and dessert topping? What religion isn't based on deep truths, full of smart people, and often hijacked by power hungry monsters?
It's nice, but it also feels kind of freaky / wrong. I also saw a cherry blossom tree with buds on it on December 15. Was also very unusual.
I don't know where we're going but it doesn't feel like a good place, I wish was more was being done to address the issue because why end up in a hellscape when we don't have too?
This may mean something or not depending on the context. Normal if it was a wintering flowering cherry tree Prunus subhirtella
There earth has been in a long period of temperate climate. It has had many longer periods of inhospitable climate. The earth will be just fine. But it will result in mass migration, domestic and regional, and with that always comes social upheaval.
The Grapes of Wrath is a small scale version of what's coming. I do not think we have invented the social or cultural tools to adequately manage it without resorting to violence.
The problem isn't even climate change anymore, that is inevitable. It's already happening. It's been happening. We need to build the capacity to manage the coming consequences.
