Ask HN: What is your open source dream job?

If you were paid to work on open source full time with no strings attached, what would you work on? Would you focus on a particular project? Or on a particular area (like reproducible builds)? And why that project/area?

I'd go full time on https://concise-encoding.org

Once that is solidified, the next phase built upon this tech foundation will be a general purpose bidirectional RPC "sublayer" that operates on any medium (low or high bandwidth, reliable or not, requiring encryption or not) and can be trivially built upon for more specific applications.

Once that is done, I'll use it to move up the chain to actual protocols we need going forward.

There are a bunch of other technologies locked up in my brain as well, but I figure I have about 50-100 man-years backlog already...

I think that I would work on some web related project like web server or web browser. Why? Well, I think that those are the basic building blocks. You can't have content published without server and you can't access it without a browser. In my day-to-day work I spend more than 90% of time in a browser. OS isn't so important to my this days, just a good browser :)

I would work on tooling to make monorepos tractable and easy for any organization to use. Most of the problems that orgs run into is the absence of good tooling for monorepos.

The dream would be to hack on Plasma or some other KDE software. Or maybe some DAW or other audio/music app, like Mixxx, LMMS, Qtractor.

The one I've got I suspect :)

Which one is that?
