The second baffling thing is how HN's react to USB-C and HDMI so differently. With USB-C / USB 4, more than half of HN expect the consumers to know which cables and port offer which features. It is the consumers's fault for not choosing the right cable or knowing what their port does. I dont see how that is different to HDMI here. All it takes is one bad actor in the market. And it will be a race to the bottom.
That is partly why Apple brought back MagSafe. You dont tell the user to go and find a USB-C 120W ( or 240W ) capable cable that may or may not be compliant to do quick charging.
You tell them to use MagSafe cable.
