Her books tickled the same parts of my brain as Isaac Asimov books, she would find new ways that her initial set of rules around vampirism could be exploited and sprinkled them everywhere, really thought about the consequences of eternal life in particular. Some of the stuff may seem played out now, but you have to remember when it was written, she invented a lot of the stuff you see in modern vampire movies. I think it's appropriate she is honored here she really hacked the whole vampire concept.

Anne Rice was behind Interview with the Vampire:

Just yesterday, for no reason at all, I decided to re-watch "Interview with the Vampire" on Netflix. Weird coincidence, and a really, really sad news.

I need to rewatch that movie. It was so good. I have never read her books, not being interested in Vampire novels, but I watched 5 minutes of the movie and I was hooked. I love conversational movies wherein the the protagonist reveals they're ancient or they have a secret that could change the world.

The books are a little strange. Interview with the Vampire is the most normal one. As I read through the rest of the series, it became more and more obvious that she was madly in love with her own character the vampire Lestat (Tom Cruise in the movie).

Everyone who meets Lestat (including Satan himself) becomes obsessed with him, and it feels like it's not so much because the character is super interesting but because the author has a lady-boner for him. You start to feel like a voyeur reading some really personal love letters adapted into novels.

That movie has some amazing areal shots of San Francisco.

I’m conflicted about whether they fit with the rest of the movie - but they are beautiful.
