I didn't mean to sound glib. I'm sorry. I just didn't find anything new on the site and wanted to know if maybe I missed something they offered that was different.

Thanks for clarifying. I think there are better ways to ask a question like that (eg. "what differentiates x from y.."). It's also built on an assumption: looking at those two sites side by side, there's nothing glaringly obvious that one is "much better designed" than the other.

One thing I try to remember is that this site is probably something someone loves and takes pride in. It's fine to offer a critique and constructive crits, but I try to remember that a sharp comment like that (without much seemingly obvious interest in an answer) can be super tough for the designer.

I get that people might have their esteem tied up in their work, but there's no post explaining what they were after, no intent, and unless you created the site I see no defense of its merit. I could have been less sharp, but my question still stands.

"I'm really interested in space weather. For me the NOAA site works really well, but I can see how this is a fun passion project."

Or just don't say anything.
