The bottom line for this is, as long as one cannot pay for their groceries using (some, but not all) cryptocurrencies due to volatile prices, slow and very high transaction fees along side complicated multi-layer switches and contraptions to do expensive swaps, then these predictions are not 'impossible' but more like very unrealistic and highly unlikely.
I would expect these predictions to take more years rather than next year.
One point to distinguish is the "price winter"(aka correction) vs product winter (halted development) - according to Chris Dixon.
