David Foster Wallace would have had a field day with the lists of brand name foods and toiletries. The banal voyeurism is right up his alley. I'm combing the pages for a whiff of scandal, and all that's coming up is supermarket consumerism, the great equalizer, tedious and intimate in equal measure.

Clearly someone read The E-Myth when putting this together. It's very well organized. But how dehumanizing to work in such an environment, with such specific rules about what and how little to say! I imagine this kind of thing is normal (?) in households of very rich people, even when they aren't sex traffickers.

This is all very mild compared to what you’d have in a nice hotel or a restaurant.

This is normal in the service industry, rich people have service staff.

Very creepy knowing the context.

Everything seemed pretty normal for a retreat place until I read what is supposed to be in the master bedroom:

“ Gun placed in beside table drawer.”

It's dual-use creepy and practical. Cleaning people need to know where things belong after last night's statutory rape "role playing" with middle schoolers and high schoolers. The other thing is, if you're a supposed almost billionaire, then you need some protection if you don't have a body guard. I find it weird that a pistol would ever be out, but I think it's so to not freak-out new staff if they discover it while cleaning the nightstand.

Most of the items listed seem like precise expectations. But it did seem weird they have the same thing for breakfast every morning. Like, wouldn't you hire a cook to bring cooking skills and novelty into your life, or did they just want to hire "generic servants" who would work for next to nothing and obey?

Also, make sure not to run out of film and disposable cameras.

Some carcinogenic baby powder.

Throwing away a razor cartridge after every use. Wasteful.

Lever 2000 soap. Tacky and gross.

Tide with bleach. Nasty.
