Bonhoeffer’s Theory of Stupidity Explains the World Perfectly

“In individuals, insanity is rare; but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule.” — Friedrich Nietzsche

Add to that cults, religions, organised crime, justice system, corporations, institutions, unions, syndicates, conglomerates, cartels, states, families, couples, any entity bigger than an individual. Besides that, I suspect insanity in individuals is actually broader than suspected.

As a whole, everything just kinda work mostly because kind, sane and sensible individuals can be found anywhere, everywhere. Let's say we need more of these.
