Be careful doing tempera, though... I was told by an art teacher that a lot of the powder pigments are pretty poisonous, you really don't want to breath them in.
For this reason, if you are considering working with powdered pigments, investigate whether you can instead use aqueous pigment dispersions. Should normally be fine for egg tempera.
