How Twitter Can Fix Itself

Hey nytimes: if you want to you can put your website up on the social web just by shoehorning a few simple W3C recommendations into your content management system. Stop with this incessant punditry over what a company decides to spend engineering time and resources on. They do not work for you. You don't need them.
If you can't tell from my tone this topic makes me cranky because it's so obvious to me what these media/newspapers should do with their websites, and it's maddening to see them leave that option off the table to have their editors whine about walled gardens. The open web and its extension into federated social interoperability has existed for over 13 years at this point. The Ponzi web3 is not going to save you. Use what's been specced out by the standardization bodies. You can come participate too if you need to (contact the fine folks at W3C for membership info).
