Israel and Iran Broaden Cyberwar to Attack Civilian Targets

I realized quite late that when communication gets militarized, citizens are inevitably caught in the crossfire.

Of course we always knew about propaganda, but targeted harms, extortion, psyops campaigns are something that genuinely scares me. Because no society is really ready to defend against them, it seems.

I wonder whether Bruce Schneier would have an optimistic answer.

Since we are talking about cyberwar against civilians, shouldn't these be treated as war crimes?
